After five decades shaping
the built environment as a prominent architect, Colin Russell has turned his
practiced eye to the canvas, translating a lifelong mastery of structure and
light into fine art. A graduate of Cornell University‘s renowned
architecture program, he began his career in the Los Angeles firm of his
father, the celebrated mid-century modernist George Vernon Russell.
Relocating to Northern
California, he has made an indelible mark on the landscape, with hundreds of
architectural projects spanning from San Francisco to Marin County and across the nation. Today,
Colin channels this deep understanding of space, form, and
environmental harmony into his watercolor and oil paintings.
Whether capturing the
sweeping coastal light of Marin or the intricate geometric details of
architectural scenes, his work reveals what he describes as “the art
within the structure.” His fine art showcases a unique synthesis of
technical precision and creative freedom, offering viewers a fresh perspective
on the spaces and environments we inhabit.
